Follow The Valley Church
At The Valley Church, we believe life is better together. That’s why our small groups are a core part of our church community. They provide a place for connection, growth, and shared spiritual experiences that go beyond Sunday gatherings.
This week, we continue our Better Together series by exploring the impact of biblical community and what the early church can teach us about thriving together.
The Early Church as Our Example
In Acts 2:42-47, the early church provides a blueprint for spiritual growth in community:
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer… They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need… Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.”
From this passage, we identify three essential elements of biblical community:
Devotion – The early believers were committed to the Word of God, fellowship, communion, and prayer. Devotion anchors a community in truth and provides a spiritual foundation for growth. When small groups prioritize Scripture, it guides decisions, strengthens relationships, and deepens faith.
Delight – Community is not a chore; it’s a joy. The early church delighted in gathering together, sharing meals, learning from one another, and celebrating God’s work. Fun, laughter, and shared experiences make spiritual growth meaningful and lasting.
Displays of God’s Power – When believers gather in biblical community, God works. Miracles are not limited to physical healings—they include restored relationships, newfound hope, answered prayers, and lives transformed by faith. Gathering in community allows us to witness and participate in God’s power.
Why Small Groups Matter
Small groups create intentional spaces where these three elements flourish. They provide opportunities for consistent fellowship, accountability, prayer, and spiritual learning. As people engage in shared experiences, walls break down, and authentic relationships form.
At The Valley, our small groups run in two six-week sessions per semester, giving participants the chance to grow, connect, and explore faith together. Whether you’re new to church or looking to deepen your connection, small groups are the perfect place to find your people and experience biblical community firsthand.
